It’s no secret that we’ve been working on a new version of our dashboard, widget, and website. And we’re reaching the stage where we can start letting you get your hands on some improvements.
From here on, you can look forward to mini releases and some extra sweetness once every few weeks. These mini updates include anything from UI changes, launch of new features, or random musings by the product team.
Just last week we rolled out a version of the chat widget which works on iOS devices to all users. This week, we’re announcing a spanking new theme editor for the chat widget, and we’re throwing in some new themes as well!
Fresh from the oven: Widget Theme Editor
This new widget theme editor is from the future. Some of you using the beta HTML5 dashboard may already have played around with it. We’ve extracted that out, and made it available for all users. You can access it as follows:
- From the dashboard, go to “Settings > Customize Widget > Open Theme Editor”.
- Alternatively, go straight to dashboard.zopim.com/themeEditor!
So what’s new?
Many of you love the ability to change widget color / themes / greeting messages without having to change the widget embed code. Now we’ve extended it to include customization for language, chat bubble messages and colors, right from within the theme editor.
That’s not all. You can now preview the settings live as if it’s on your site! We took pains to build in a live preview so all you need to do, is to key in your website URL on the top right hand box to see the changes live.
Last but not least, we have some bonus new themes! Now that you have more variety to choose from, it’s time to give your chat widget a new look and feel for the year. Here’s a sneak peak:
New themes will be rolled out over the next few months so watch this space! If you have a rockstar widget design that will bowl us over, or some fancy design ideas that you dreamt of as you’re reading this, please get in touch via marketing@zopim.com.

Cool stuff! Now just add the ability for the script to have a favican.ico set to replace orange pacman.
It’s buggy.
I suggest you fix it immediately.
The chat box appears blank, after applying changes, which ultimately doesn’t allow users to choose support departments, or other required fields used to start a chat.
Rather buggy.
@Aaron Thanks for the feedback. We’ve already reached out to you via email. Will need a screenshot to understand the problem you’re facing
Biggest frustration is IM chat with google talk and go daddy. Nightmare setting up. Still not working on mine after a month.
@John We’ve reached out via email to get more information
Thanks. Appreciate it. bunnmoxleyhomes.com
Works like a charm, thanks for the iOS update I was missing that!
All is working now, thanks guys! =)
is there any way to login into dashbaord using iOS? or maybe android and blackberry apps.
Ok, great. Now if it would only work. I am getting a error message everytime I try to got the the settings page.
Please fix.
I get a timeout failure each time i try to get into http://dashboard.zopim.com/themeEditor.
Appears to hang at “checking you in” step
@Colin We’ll reach out via email to get more info. Thanks for the comment!
Same here, just struck at the check-in, says timeout and in the top i get an OUPS there was an error.
Still having this problem? It might have been down for a short period
i got an error, on my customer pages the sidebar is can’t minimize automatically. it happen on chrome and mozilla. what’s wrongs?
It sure would be nice to be able to edit the size of the big orange bubble. I get that the idea is to encourage people to click on it by making it very prominent but if our strategy is a little different, it would be nice if it was a little smaller. About half the size.
I am just about to ask for a refund on zopim. Once I could finally open the new widget editor I make a change to the color of the widget and now all my shortcuts are gone and I am unable to chat with anyone.
Fix your shit or I am done! Too many problems!
That’s great, but if we change the greetings message (which doesn’t make sense since it says twice Click here to Chat), it will change for all the languages, even if we have set another language…
is there any updated API to set the theme on a per page basis? I currently use the color change API to color each page, but a different theme would be amazing!
@Robert we’ve yet to update the APIs, but you can use $zopim.livechat.window.setTheme(‘‘)
theme names include: alphacube, solid, plastic, floral, windows7, macOs, chrome
